Book Report: “Boring Meetings Suck: Get More out of Your meetings, or Get Out of More Meetings,” by Jon Petz.
This book caught my attention because I get to attend a lot of meetings and I get to lead a lot of meetings. Petz gives SRDs (suckification reduction devices) for both instances. He asks basic questions: who should attend; will the information be valuable; can the information be spread in a different matter… he also asks the tougher questions: what is there about your presentation that might suck; what can an audience member do to get a boring meeting on track?
There is enough advice in this little volume to do many speeches (I have one under my belt already.) I encourage everyone to read the book, whether or not you lead meetings, here in Toastmasters, or in your work environment or anywhere else. It will open your eyes.
